A man was arrested without incident after a two-hour standoff Monday evening and charged with the death of a woman inside a residence near Watson Park east of downtown San Jose.
Santa Clara Police Department officers arrived in the area of the Feb. 20 fatal shooting, and arrested the suspect as he walked on the sidewalk of White Oak Lane.
One suspect in one of the three separate San Jose homicide incidents is in custody, the prime suspect in another killing died in a car accident while fleeing the scene and one or more suspects in a fatal shooting remained at large as of today.
Santa Clara police identified the man in the apartment where the boy’s body was found as Sergio Colin Gomez. They said he resisted arrest and after a brief struggle, was taken into custody at the scene of the homicide.
Police reported that Alex Albetria, 63, collapsed after restraining a violent intruder at Villa Fontana in West San Jose last December, then died at a local hospital.
Police Chief Anthony Mata said officers saw a man with a handgun pointed at other people. He said officers repeatedly asked the man to drop the gun before one officer fired shots that hit the man, who was taken to a local hospital with non-lethal injuries.
Neighbors of the homicide victim told officers they had heard screaming in the immediate area early Saturday morning, but did not call police. A concerned friend called in a missing person report on Monday.
Police said the four San Jose residents were responsible for the brutal bloodbath outside the popular South Capitol Avenue restaurant that terrorized an East San Jose neighborhood. Two men were killed and four injured in the shooting, which remained unsolved until last week’s arrests.
