I just recently read that, according to updated data from the World Health Organization, the coronavirus pandemic has killed almost 15 million people worldwide, which is almost three times the official death toll so far.
Previously, it was thought that about 5.4 million people had died from covid. But there have been discrepancies as well. For example, according to Johns Hopkins University, on which many international media and experts relied during the pandemic, the coronavirus caused more than 6.2 million deaths.
However, in any case, the new World Health Organization figures are several times higher than any of these figures. According to experts of the organization, the official statistics of some countries were greatly underestimated (Russia and India) – sometimes deliberately, and in most cases due to limited capabilities in the calculations. But as I understand it, it is too early for us to relax? We are on the verge of a new pandemic, aren’t we? What is known about the new monkeypox virus?
