State already spends $30B per year for Healthcare/public education for illegal immigrants, and estimates are the return on taxes (sales, etc.) for the same group is at most $4B. That’s not good math for actual taxpayers. Also, places like Valley Med are already overwhelmed and without additional capacity building, this just further overwhelms the system. Furthermore, CA public education is horrendous for most students unless you can afford private school or live in a Los Gatos, Saratoga, etc. So we are already completely overwhelming these systems and pretending like it’s a fair deal for all. It’s like preparing a meal for your family of 5, then 50 more people show up unannounced with their hand out. Everyone goes hungry.

On top of all of that – so many high earners and middle class tax payers have left and are leaving, along with many businesses. This is a big reason for a $68B deficit that won’t get any better the following year. Offering “free” Healthcare to illegal immigrants at the expense of citizens is just a terrible idea. Soon, the state will be left with the super elite and illegal immigrants/homeless. Then, who actually pays for all of this? Soon CA will need a federal bailout because of how poorly it is managed.

I tend to agree with SJ Kulak on this one.

That said…

“California does not share immigration information with federal authorities, and enrolling in Medi-Cal will not threaten chances to pursue legal residency, something known as the public charge rule.”

Nothing would stop the federal government from going to court and demanding this information. If a federal court ordered it, the state would have to provide the data.

Complete insanity.

If any other person or entity confiscated our money at gunpoint and handed it out to citizens of foreign countries, they’d be charged with a felony and would likely spend years in a penitentiary.

But to the state government, this sort of treachery is routine—and it’s the #1 reason my wife and I pulled up stakes this past year, and left California.

We live in Florida now. There’s no state tax, which saves us more than $25,000 every year. We would prefer California for the weather, but that government is rotten to the core. So the only rational response for us was to skedaddle. That’s what we did, with a hat tip to Nan’s nephew Newsom.

Our condolences to everyone we left behind. It must really hurt to see the money you earned being shoveled out to layabouts. Illegal aliens continue to flood in, with no indication that the flood will slow down or even remain at current levels. I just SMH…

Don’t forget to give them voting rights for state and federal offices, too, not just for local elections in the most “enlightened” cities, packing various votes including the popular vote in federal elections coming in November. Happy new year! Too late for the Census, though.

As much as I’d like to ridicule this as a cynical way to funnel money to insurance companies, try to bait republicans into making racist comments, and paint the state as some saint, what is most likely is that this will end up saving money as managing healthcare through the emergency room is a massive waste of money.
