From SJSU “All majors at SJSU are impacted for transfers, meaning that all applicants compete for space in the major, based on the applicant’s cumulative GPA for all transferable courses completed at the time of application.” ‘Impacted’ majors can have high to very high GPA requirements for transfer in addition to the course requirements in the major from the CC. See the SJSU website with information on transferring from a CC, impacted majors, GPAs of successful transfer applicants, as well as course requirements for transfer based on major (example is nursing, but you can scroll to see the other impacted majors listed): https://www.sjsu.edu/admissions/impaction/transfer-impaction-results/2022-fall.php#NursingPre

My child was able to transfer from a CC to another CSU (SJSU was too impacted in the majors of interest), had a wonderful experience, and was able to get all required classes to complete his junior and senior years in less than 2 years.
In addition, students in impacted majors may have a tough time getting all of the classes they need to finish their undergrad degrees in a timely manner.
