The City of Mountain view has been just about a slave to Google for all this time.

But now Google has fired 35% of the Mountain View workforce. That kind of reduction can only mean they are in the process of leaving the City.

The report is here https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/24/google-cut-over-1800-california-jobs-including-massage-therapists.html

“The layoffs include 1,436 in Mountain View, 119 in San Bruno and 53 in Palo Alto, according to the WARN notices.”

There WERE 4,000 workers for the Mountain View location, WOW that is a big drop of 35%. This is going to be a BIG hurt to the City of Mountain View. I can only imagine that if only 10% of them lived in Mountain View, that could result in 140 households leaving the City (homeowners or rentals). And that also means that as many as 1400 of the most valuable customers are likely leaving.

Here is unpleasant reality, the Santa Clara County area is not going to recover because there is more reductions in demand on the way. Santa Clara has always been a very weird business area, having vendors that are dependent on the local tech industry (GOOGLE the most). But after Work from Home and now the new job cuts, it is very likely that the Goggle campus is on the way of being closed for good.

But if Google was going to keep working in Santa Clara County they would not have fired that many. This means that all projects associated with Google or Alphabet are likely in the list of being cut or cancelled.

The company uses contractors to help them earn money back from workers regarding on site services. But when you cut your workforce by more than a third, that means the cost of operating that place is too high, and thus it is on a CHOPPING BLOCK.

This needs to be anticipated, and adjustments need to be made. This is going to mean a major correction in commercial properties in the Castro Downtown area. Time to get ready
