Crap.

Until you can go to a sporting event like normal then you aren’t back.

I think major league sports are going to be in for a big shock when they find out fans are tired of all this political correctness nonsense. The whole idea of professional sports was to get away after a hard week of work and relax. The last thing fans want to see is idiots that refuse to stand up for the national anthem, etc.

If the plan is for the TV advertising revenue to save the day then one is in for a big shock.

Professional sports has a big audience problem because the majority of the audience is working class stiffs that want to relax at the end of a hard week of work and not see a lot of political crap. The NFL players kneeling down when the National Anthem is being played is going to play real well with many of the fans being hard core Military Vets. Yep, That is going to play real well.

They didn’t go with the best possible information at the time. The best possible information from day 1 showed that the Virus knocks off old and unhealthy people and leaves young and healthy people alone.

Tough Luck.

Old and unhealthy people have a tendency to die. They really do.

Having the old and elderly taking reasonable precautions makes sense and nobody would oppose that. If you are young and healthy then you have nothing to worry about. You keep on living a normal life. You go to sporting events, etc.

The Virus is going to spread no matter what you do. We now have over 3M cases and the number of total deaths is 150K in the US with the average age being over 75 and in poor health.

Not worth shutting the country down.

Not entirely true. Someone did come out and say it, but he used the term, “Untermensch”. I’m not sure that’s a path we want to go down. We should have isolated the vulnerable and treated it like any other flu but they went with the best information that was available at the time. The real problem is all these politicians who are now drunk with power, who now don’t want to relinquish their stranglehold on the public. Wear your mask or you can’t buy food? Try getting into a grocery store or a Costco without a mask?.What’s next, requiring you to wear a yellow “Star of Covid” on your outer clothing, if you haven’t been tested or know someone who hasn’t been?

I’m serious now: Here’s what I have been doing. Whenever I go into a grocery store, coffee house or anyplace that requires a mask for entry or service, I have been wearing a paper-bag over my head after cutting two eye holes in it. It might look goofy but like the mask, it makes me feel better and I feel like I’m making a point. I also find it more comfortable, despite the stares I get. Who cares who looks at me, they can’t tell who I am anyway.

Even better would be to avoid buying from all those that advertise on professional sports. Of course that isn’t possible. I am not buying Nike, etc. because of all of this political correctness crap.

The whole idea of professional sports is to be able to wind down from a hard week of work and watch a sporting event without hearing a bunch of political crap. When I watch a football game, I want the players to stand up for the national anthem and take the BLM stuff OFF the playing field.

We shouldn’t have done anything at all.

You would have had a blip in the number of death of elderly and unhealthy people that were meant to die and the economy by now would have been going strong.

No one wants to come out and say it but I will. We really don’t want old and unhealthy people in the first place. Here we go around complaining about people dying in nursing homes but let’s get real we dump people in nursing homes because their offspring don’t want to look at the problem. They don’t want to come out and say that they want their parents dead because even though they may say to themselves they don’t believe it; the kids certainly don’t want to look at the problem. Nor am I blaming those that don’t because speaking from personal experience having taken care of my parents at the end, it is both a physical and moral drain.

So what is really worse, an 80 year old invalid with dementia or worse, can’t get out of bed, never able to leave a nursing home or just plain old dead. Yes, that is cruel to say that but a rational person doesn’t make life miserable for everybody else by shutting businesses down, making people wear face masks, not go to sporting events, etc.

People Die.

Get over it.

If these ego-bloated sports pogues play without having fans to watch them, then they really haven’t opened their season. The only sport I want to see anymore now anyway is a bare-knuckle MMA fight between a Marine Corps or Army veteran who jumps out of the stands and runs onto to playing field and beats the hell out of some overpaid sports slob who doesn’t stand for the flag but will squat there wearing his $500 Nike shoes, made by Chinese communist slave laborers, .Now, that would be a sport worth watching.

Ideally, they’d like to resume the regular season, but that remains a big unknown at this point.”

July 8 was yesterday, MLS teams have already started competing, albeit without fans in the stands. And, contrary to the article, the group play games in MLS’ ongoing tournament in Orlando do, indeed, count in the regular season standings. (The San Jose Earthquakes play Friday evening, July 10 at 6 p.m. on ESPN for those interested in watching live sports again.)

As for regular season games beyond the tournament, yes, these are planned. Because, I’m told, Santa Clara County is the most restrictive of any MLS market, and its latest COVID-19 order would allow for local games without fans, a resumption of games in league markets by fall seems likely — maybe even with fans, by then.

The Debbie Downer tone is unjustified, at least as regards MLS. All signs are positive at this point.
