I just don’t know about these things.

Could someone explain to me how a young woman from the People’s Republic of China becomes a world class tennis player?

I have always thought that becoming a great pro tennis player requires spending a LOT of time at the tennis club and spending LOTS of money on top tier professional coaches.

Does the People’s Republic of China have a state workers tennis collective that I haven’t heard about?

Are the workers at the state tennis collective randomly assigned, or is there some kind of intervention by the political elites?

Wouldn’t having a high communist party official pull some strings to get your child into a state tennis collective look like political corruption?

How does this all work?
