A high-speed chase and car jacking in San Jose in 2019 ended in a shootout that killed the suspect’s partner.

The female officer, who has not been identified, was seriously wounded in Wednesday's shooting, when a single bullet struck her in the abdomen below her bulletproof vest, causing serious injury to her intestine, colon, liver and gall bladder, and fracturing her spine, according to District Attorney Jeff Rosen. 

San Jose detectives obtained search warrants for the suspects' residences, which yielded five handguns (one Ghost Gun and four unregistered), extended gun magazines, drum magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

On Saturday around 8am. a sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop in the area of Rutland and Parkmoor avenues in San Jose. During the stop, the driver-- later identified as Ramos-- allegedly fled on foot from the deputy. 

Two 19-year-olds, Ulises Jimenez and Paul Lebeau, will face robbery charges, while their robbery victim, 18-year-old Naylen Hobson Plattner, has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder in connection with the Dec. 20 mall incident.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was arrested Feb. 28 after he allegedly chased and shot at Harry Goularte, a 43-year-old man suspected of touching a 4-year-old child inappropriately at a childcare business in San Martin.
