The city unions’ call for a three-day strike beginning Aug. 15 had been put on hold for 24 hours Monday, giving the council a chance to approve the deal.
During Sam Liccardo's City Hall reign, the SJPD went from 1,370 officers to 1151 authorized police positions and today can only field 961 street-ready officers, and hundreds more officers are planning on leaving over the next 24-months.
