Changes are underway one year after scathing audits showed how the California State University system failed to handle reports of sexual discrimination, harassment and assault in its Title IX offices.

Police identified the suspect as Alejandro Lopez Nunez, 38, of Santa Clara, a behavioral therapist with Trumpet Behavioral Health and also a part-time Instructional Aide at Forest Hill Elementary School at the time of the June 7 incident.

Police said that the sexual assault suspect, Brett Bymaster, of San Jose, was a former youth pastor at the River Church Community and a volunteer at after school programs outside of the church.

One complaint alleges that a retired California Highway Patrol officer sexually harassed and sexually battered a female employee at a San Jose CHP facility.

Police said their investigation revealed that Cesar Eduardo Castro Moreno had sexually assaulted the victim during a massage appointment. Palo Alto police said they are not aware of any additional victims.

was forced her into the storage room at knifepoint, tied to a pipe and sexually assaulted by the thief, who took money from the cash register and fled on foot. The case lay dormant until last December.

Restorative justice is a controversial process that brings together the student who was harmed, the person who harmed them and the community to seek solutions.

The incidents occurred in a middle school classroom at Hubbard Media Academy, a K-8 school at 1680 Foley Avenue in East San Jose

Police said the suspect worked as a physical therapist for the California Children’s Services, where the survivor was receiving physical therapy treatments from the suspect due to a medical condition. They encouraged any other victims to come forward.

Deputies said Stephen Eugene Thai sexually assaulted two students during the after school art program. They did not identify the school.

The school district had been headed for trial in Santa Clara County Superior Court Nov. 7 in the civil action brought by two men sexually assaulted as students, in 2020, and in 2008-2009. 

A parent of the student at Kipp Navigate College Prep on Sept. 20 reported to San José police that she had located messages from an adult male on her daughter's phone.
